Assistant/Assoc VP, Nursing/Patient Care Svcs, Director, Nurse Manager
The Director of Inpatient Services is responsible for ensuring high patient satisfaction and quality of care in the Med/Surg unit as well as Kane Center for oncology, hematology and infusion services. The Director ensures appropriate staffing, supplies and equipment to deliver appropriate care based on the patient census, and partners with physicians and other clinical staff to ensure that patient needs are met.
Provides nursing management and leadership for the 24 hour a day, seven day a week inpatient operation, consistent with the goals and policies of the organization and ensuring appropriate staffing and resources to support the inpatient census and acuity while meeting departmental budget requirements. Assigns duties and delegate responsibilities to unit nursing personnel according to their professional scope of practice.
Manages the coordination of inpatient services with VRH team (e.g. pharmacy, PT/OT/ST, wellness, and care management) to ensure that patients receive timely and effective treatment and care. Identifies issues with provision of care and collaborates with departmental managers to improve processes to meet patient satisfaction and quality standards.
Manages the partnership with the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center to ensure coordination of care and fulfillment of contractual obligations.
Responsible for staff recruitment, management and development as well as addressing performance or behavior issues in a timely fashion.
Ensures thorough orientation of nursing staff to clinical procedures and best practices, as well as organization policies, and customer service and patient satisfaction principles.
Develops and implements an annual staff education plan based on identification of staff needs, organization initiatives, and new regulations or policies. Partners with HR, Clinical Educator and IT to ensure effective delivery and documentation of training.
Works as line staff when needed to ensure adequate staffing based on patient census and acuity.
Develops departmental budget and presents to CNO for review and presentation to Sr. Team for approval.

Current RN licensure in the state of New Hampshire
BSN and/or MSN (MSN preferred)
Three to five years of acute care clinical experience
3-5 years of nursing administration and staff leadership experience in an inpatient services environment.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills and competence in leadership, management , and supervision of clinical and non-clinical staff.
Excellent skills in communication and ability to relate effectively with various stakeholders including patients, families, staff, physicians and other VRH team members.
Experience in developing and managing departmental budgets.
High integrity and able to follow procedures and hold others accountable for following policy and procedures.
Ability to be a self-motivated learner, to take initiative in learning many complex processes and finding ways to improve processes to enhance the patient experience and improve staff efficiency.
Exhibits professionalism at all times, understands appropriate workplace behavior/communications.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all relevant areas
